Bushman's Bootlace

Bushman's Bootlace is named, not for its elegance or ability to dance on the breeze like a ballerina in the bush, but for its practical nature. If, for example, you suddenly needed to replace a broken bootlace, with leaves and flowers stripped, Pimelea nivea is 100% fit for purpose! How Aussie!

On a gorgeous September morning, welcomed by humpback whales breaching in The Gulch right outside the perfumery, Emma worked with Bushman's Bootlace and other foraged natives gathered from the roadside, marrying them with exquisite ornamentals from a friend's mother's Spring garden. We all need one of those!

Coles Bay ceramicist Julia Fisher's vases, designed especially for Wild Spring, proved a fitting vessel for the Spring displays created by 'workshoppers' who travelled from as far as Port Sorell, and as near as Harvey's Farm Road, Bicheno.

Hot tip from Emma: instead of creating your floral arrangement in a vase, hold the stems up in the air as you go, adding one stem at a time. When you're happy with your display, cut stems to one length, then place in the vase. Eh, voila!

Thanks to all the workshop attendees who made this Wild Spring one to remember.
